Terms and Conditions

These terms govern your use of the AreaWatch website, free area checker, account features and paid postcode reports.

Last updated 26 August 2026

1. Who we are

AreaWatch is developed and operated by Alpha Beat Limited, a private limited company registered in England and Wales under company number 15037481. Our registered office is 8 Coventry Road, Beeston, Nottingham, England, NG9 2EG.

You can contact us at info@alphabeat.co.uk or visit alphabeat.co.uk.

2. Using AreaWatch

By accessing or using AreaWatch, you agree to these terms. You must use the service lawfully and must not interfere with it, attempt unauthorised access, bypass access controls, introduce malicious code, scrape it at unreasonable scale, or use it to identify, accuse or profile an individual.

You may use AreaWatch for personal location research and other lawful internal purposes. You may not resell, reproduce or commercially exploit AreaWatch content or software without our written permission.

3. Crime data is decision support, not a safety verdict

AreaWatch presents recorded-crime information and related analysis to help you research an area. It does not declare a property or neighbourhood “safe” or “dangerous”, and it is not professional, legal, valuation, insurance or personal-safety advice.

  • Police.uk street-level locations are anonymised and approximate, not exact incident addresses.
  • Recorded crime does not represent every crime experienced in an area.
  • Provider data can be delayed, incomplete, corrected or unavailable for particular months.
  • Raw incident counts are not population-adjusted rates unless the metric is expressly labelled as a rate.
  • Police.uk coverage used by AreaWatch includes England, Wales and Northern Ireland, but not Police Scotland.

Read our methodology before relying on a result for an important decision.

4. Accounts and security

You can use the free checker without creating a permanent account. AreaWatch may create a private guest session so the service can operate securely. If you add an email login, you must provide accurate information, protect access to your email and account, and tell us promptly if you suspect misuse.

We may restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary to protect users, enforce these terms, investigate fraud or misuse, or maintain the security and availability of the service.

5. Paid postcode reports

A paid AreaWatch report is a one-off purchase for permanent access to the stated postcode report through the account associated with the purchase. The price, postcode and included features are shown before you enter Stripe Checkout. There is no subscription or automatic renewal unless we clearly state otherwise before a future purchase.

Stripe processes payment details. We receive information needed to verify payment, fulfil the report entitlement and support the transaction. Access depends on using the same guest or email identity linked to the completed purchase.

6. Cancellations and refunds

Your statutory consumer rights are not affected. Rights relating to cancellation or refunds can depend on when digital access begins, the information and consent provided at checkout, and the circumstances of the purchase. If you believe a report was not supplied as described, was purchased in error, or is faulty, contact info@alphabeat.co.uk with the purchase email, postcode and Stripe receipt so we can review it.

7. Availability and third-party services

AreaWatch relies on third-party data and infrastructure including Police.uk, Supabase, Mapbox, OpenStreetMap, Stripe, Firebase Hosting and Google Analytics where enabled. We aim to keep AreaWatch available and current, but do not guarantee uninterrupted access or that third-party data will always be complete, timely or error-free.

External websites and services are governed by their own terms and privacy notices.

8. Intellectual property and public data

AreaWatch branding, software, interface, original copy and analysis belong to Alpha Beat Limited or its licensors. Police.uk and OpenStreetMap material remains subject to the rights, licences and attribution requirements of its respective providers. These terms do not transfer ownership of that material to us or to you.

9. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including your statutory consumer rights. To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for indirect or unforeseeable loss arising from reliance on approximate, delayed or incomplete third-party data, or from using AreaWatch as a substitute for wider enquiries and professional advice.

10. Privacy, changes and governing law

Our Privacy Policy explains how AreaWatch handles personal data. We may update these terms when the service, law or providers change. The updated date above shows the latest version; material changes will be highlighted where appropriate.

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, without removing any mandatory rights a consumer has to bring a claim in another court.
